Games & Strawberries

This is how my Saturday night started. I finished it all! I'm not ashamed at all. It was pretty good, too.

Dave & Busters was pretty good. It was so much fun! There was some kids there, but more adults than kids. It was a good thing. I liked how you could carry and drink your beer in there.

I had 300 points to use. I didn't buy anything this time around. I think we'll wait until we have more points after the next visit.

I think we were either talking about cooking or the kitchen store we were heading to. Maybe it was about the froyo Dylan was going to buy us. Of course, I got chocolate, PB with all the chocolate toppings I could get my hands on.

My favorite froyo place I've ever been to (I've only been to 2).

This is what my Saturday had involved. Body Glide and Dave & Busters. Sounds like a great Saturday to me!

Jason loves me even though I wear running race shirts 24 hours a day.

How my Sunday started. Mother's Day for my mom. Homemade waffles with fresh strawberries and homemade whipped cream.

Paired with homemade banana strawberry walnut muffins. Some the the strawberries imploded (which I think looked cool).

My brother gave my mom Sherries Berries for mother's day and she shared with us.

I am so full. I have so much to do today, I have to get packed to go to Yosemite, and transfer all my photos to my back up disks. I know I will be taking so many photos there, I must clean off my camera.

How was your weekend?

An Early Christmas

I cooked another whole chicken in the crock pot yesterday. Here are the spices I used...

It had a unique smell. Tastes good.

For the early x-mas with my parents, I made some mini coffee cake muffins,

some mini banana crunch muffins,

and we played a game we bought for my dad (rumikub).

Overall, it was a pretty good day. We had my parents over for an early x-mas (since my mom is leaving for a few weeks). We had them over for brunch. I also made my famous quiche and cinnamon bread. We exchanged some presents (I got some awesome reflective running gear and the hubs got some pretty cool books). Afterwards, we played the game for a few hours.
Now, I'm cleaning up and getting ready to relax and watch some shows. Overall, I had an awesome weekend. I can't wait until my next one! Anything exciting happen for you this weekend?

Satisfying Saturday

This morning, I got up bright and early (at least for me), and got ready for my spin class. First, I needed to fuel for it. I fixed 1/2 strawberry Greek yogurt, some oatmeal, chopped almonds and fresh blackberries. I mixed everything together and finished getting ready.

Spin class was just what I needed, especially after all the yummy food from yesterday. I sweat like a pig in class today. I had 55 minutes of drenched sweat pouring off of me. I'm estimating a burn of about 550 calories in 45 minutes. I love our instructor. She knows what she's talking about. We had a ton of intervals and 2 hills. The hills were the worst. My legs were screaming at me the entire time. They wanted to stop, but I forced them to keep going. To get back to our place, I have to walk up a little hill, that was almost impossible today. The stairs were the death of my legs. They checked out for the rest of the day, good thing I had loaners (he, he).

After I showered and got cleaned up, I had a post workout snack. This included some yummy freshly brewed coffee and my banana crunch muffins I made last night. I found the recipe on Food Network. I love finding great recipes on there. I ALWAYS find something good to make, either for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snacks.

After 20 minutes in the oven, they came out perfect! It's pretty rare that my muffins come out PERFECT. I loved it. They were VERY hardy and moist. The perfect post workout snack.

Quite a few hours later, I had 1/2 PB&J sandwich on whole wheat bread. I balanced that with about 10 tortilla chips. I polished everything off with a bottle of ice cold, refreshing water.
A few hours later, I was starting to get a little munchy (I know I've been doing that all weekend). I had a first ever home made granola bar. I also found this recipe on the Food Network website. It was so easy to make, and it was only 15 minutes in the oven. Very quick clean up (my favorite part). They didn't hold together as much as I'd hope, but they were still very hardy and easy to eat.

Tonight I made another favorite, veggie hamburgers and potato salad. Once again, another winner. I make these often when I want something quick, and easy for dinner on a hot summer night. This is one of many go-to meals. No need for veggies on the side, they're all inside the burger, hiding.

While we were finishing up watching the movie The Green Zone, we had a bowl of Snickers Ice Cream. Ice cream is a weakness during the summer. You know, it's hot outside, and you want something cold to cool you down. Ice cream is the best. Actually Gelato is the best, but this ice cream was cheaper. Satisfying my sweet tooth. I am now finished eating for the night. I'll probably have a few bottles of water, but that's about it. Hope everyone is enjoying their nice summer night!
What is your "go to" summer dish?
