I started running in 2004. I had gained some weight and didn't like how I looked anymore. I needed to do something about it. I didn't have much money to do anything with a lot of gear. So, one day, I grabbed an old pair of tennis shoes (the kind you get at Payless Shoes for $5), shorts and a cotton t-shirt and headed out the door.

There was a 5 mile race coming up in the neighborhood and it sounded fun. I only had 1 month to "train" for it. I had no idea what I was doing. I trained, I ran it and I finished a hot, sweaty mess (but with a smile on my face). I was hooked!

From then on, I ran a couple miles almost every day. I started signing up for local 5ks. I loved every one. I was slowly setting new PRs (personal records). One day, I realized that I wanted to challenge myself and see how far I could push myself. I started training for my first half marathon. In May 2011, I completed it. That's when the runners high really started. Many more races are to come with lots of smiles! Follow me as I train my heart out and continue to push myself.

In December of 2013, I gave birth to my first son. His name is Lars and I can't get enough of him! He makes me smile every day! We love enjoying the outdoors (when the weather allows it). I'm so glad Lars loves being in his running stroller. We have so many parks around our house, we love exploring them as much as possible. My days are filled with baking, cooking, playing, working out and going to as many fun filled activities as I can find for us to do. I hope you enjoy my life!
