My Work is Making Me Fat

I woke up this morning with good intentions. I ate my normal breakfast and brought my lunch, a banana and my apple with me. My co-worker came in a few hours after I did, with the best salsa in the world.

He made normal salsa, and added 1/2 lb. sour cream and cheddar cheese (to taste), along with some pepperoncinis and some salt (to taste). That is the only way to eat salsa from now on. WOW!! So, I ignored my snacks and even my lunch and snacked on the salsa all day (I did stop by 12:30). I had some self control today. It was just so good. If there is any left when I get in tomorrow, I won't have any. I'll be better tomorrow.

When my crazy day was coming to an end, I munched on 1/2 a Kashi bar. It was chocolate caramel. It reminded me of rice crispies treats with some cereal in it. The bar only had 150 calories, so that's why I ate 1/2. I'll finish the rest tomorrow. I knew if I didn't eat anything (because I wasn't hungry), I wouldn't have done well at the gym.

It was a good bar. It gave me the energy I needed.

When I got to the gym, I went straight for the treadmill. I ran a nice and steady 4 1/4 miles. At first, I was getting distracted by other people yelling and talking on their cell phones. Once those people left, I was able to concentrate. I ran the 4 1/4 miles in 46:02. I think that's pretty good. I'll try to run longer tomorrow.
When I got home, I was starting to get hungry. After I did some cleaning up around the house, I fixed a yummy big salad (every time I think of a big salad, I think of Elaine from Seinfeld). I just bought some mixed greens, I added a home grown tomato, some olives, some small tomatoes, and a little bit a zucchini. I mixed everything well with some of Annie's salad dressing. Man, that is some good stuff.

A couple hours later, I started to get hungry again. That's when I peeled a banana and that hit the spot. About 1/2 hour ago, I had some of Johnny and Fred's cookies. Pretty tasty. I'm not a big fan of raisins being in my cookies, but they were still pretty good.

I still have some laundry to finish. So that will be the end of my night. I know, I'm such a party animal!
Answer time: My 1/2 hour ab workout is pretty simple (not really, I'm pretty sweaty afterwards). I do 3 sets of each. Each set usually takes about 10 minutes. It's best to go as slow as possible, to engage as many muscles longer.
#1: 15 crunches with a medicine ball (I use 3 kg, but use whatever fits you best)
#2: Lay in mid crunch position and use the medicine ball and turn your abdomen from left to right, letting the ball touch the floor each time. Makes sure your move your entire upper body.
#3: (I think it's called) Bicycling on your back. Put your legs up (like a table top), rotate your right elbow towards your left leg as you bring it in and stretch out your right leg as close to the ground as possible.
#4: Plank for 25 seconds (or as long as you can). Knees do not touch the ground.
#5: Get on all fours, stretch out left leg and right arm. Then, bring them in to meet in the middle as you tighten your abs.
Now, I'm not the best explain-er, I'm more of a show-er. If you have nay questions about these moves, feel free to email me.
How do you cross train?

  1. I love making my own salads! I think I make them better than restaurants...I guess because I know exactly what I like! I also love Kashi bars. Have you tried the TLC fruit & grain kinds? I've tried pumpkin pecan and cranberry walnut. They are amazing!

  2. That Salsa looks pretty fatty to me. So for sure I'm going to try it!

Sour creme makes dirt taste good - so I can't argue with your temporary addiction in the morning.

I don't eat a lot of processed or packaged foods, so I don't know what the bars taste like ... packages stuff doesn't appeal to me much.

  3. My Mom makes a nacho dip like that in layers... sour cream on the bottom, then salsa, then cheese. Perfect for dipping!!

  5. You must not have had as much as salsa as I would have if you were still hungry later! I am soo not disciplined with self-control over co-worker's goodies.

Thanks for the ab explanation. They can be tough to describe but you did a good job and I even know what you meant for all of them :)
