Late arm workout & a morning run

I managed to wake up this morning, before the boys (& before Jason left for work). So, I was able to go out for a tiny run. A nice crisp morning and Metallica playing in my ears made for a great wake up!

Yesterday, I chose sleep over an arm workout. I felt so guilty all day, but stil glad I chose sleep. I managed to get all my stuff done during the day. So, when Shane went down for a nap and Lars was watching Mickey, I managed a quick 20 minute, sweat drenching workout.

While I was working out, this is what was in the oven baking...zucchini bake. It was pretty good! Even Lars ate his entire plate.

What do you do when you miss a workout?

Longest plank & a fast breakfast

I'm on day 2 without any stupid injury or lack of motivation. I really wanted to hit snooze when my alarm went off this morning. But, I knew how much I'd regret not getting my workout in (only time I have throughout the day, until Shane can walk).

Today was an ab day. I held a plank for 35 seconds!! That's huge for me. I haven't been able to do that since before I was pregnant with Lars. So proud of myself!!

Once I finished my workout, I got some things done around the house and enjoyed breakfast with Lars. He had cereal while I enjoyed my crustless quiche muffins. So good! I out zucchini, mushrooms and tomatoes in it. So good!

I made these a couple days ago and now I can just pop a couple in the microwave to heat up whenever I'm ready. Super fast!

What's your go to super fast breakfast?

Finally...leg day!!

I had a little company during the last half of my workout. Lars makes the time go by fast!

I was finally able to get my butt in gear to get up early enough to workout before the boys (at least Shane) woke up. It felt great to get a great leg sweat going! Oh how I've missed my heart beating like that (from something other than running).

I haven't been running very much for two reasons: (1) my neck had been hurting so bad, it hurt to hold my head up. (2) as soon as my neck healed, my knee started hurting. I know it started hurting because I've been too lazy to workout my legs. I learned a long time ago, that I must workout my legs in order not to be put on the injured list. The legs feel great this morning!

Here's what happens when you try to do a good, happy and energetic jump for your blog, but keep missing the right count. Oh well, OK try, I guess.

Are you injured? If so, what's hurt? If not, have you ever been & how long ago?

Squooshi review

A little while back (I really like to test out the products), the awesome people at squooshi sent me a great package. It had so many goodies in it.

Lars loves, what we call, squeezies: smoothies in a squeeze pouch. I've been buying them, but I prefer to make as much as I can from scratch. Squooshi has made that possible for me. Shane can also start to eat them too. But, I've been concerned about his gums in the hard plastic nozzle. Here's the solution:

It's a soft material that won't hurt the little mans gums! He loves chewing on it!

I love the cleaning brushes they sent! They make cleaning the bags so easy!

Of course, Lars loves them (the truly important part)! I have so many flavors I can't wait for him (& Shane) to try!

The bags are very easy to fill! They don't leak, explode or anything. The only complaint I would have is that they don't sit upright (which makes sense, since you fill it at the bottom). Lars set it down (on its side, one time and I didn't know it. Almost the entire (1/4 filled was left) slowly came out. We were outside, so it wasn't a big deal.

Another handy item they sell are their zip pouches. I keep at least one in my baby bag whenever we go out. They're great to store the boys' snacks. They are so easy to use, open and close!

Squooshi is making this mommy's life a little easier! Thank you so much for letting us try out your awesome products!!

Best way to wake up!

My neck has been killing me lately. I think I've been sleeping wrong or something. It hurts so much when I wake up, that I don't want to workout. Well, I was determined to sweat this morning, no matter what. I set up all my clothes & gear right next to my bed, so I had no excuse.

Well, I did it! It was only about 1.68 miles. But they were great, sweaty miles (before Jason went to work). It was just me and the turkeys this morning.

Can't wait to do it again tomorrow!

What's your favorite time of day to workout?

Spagetti arms

Well, today is the first time in a few weeks that I've woken up at 6 to get my workout in for 3 consecutive days.

Arms were in the schedule for today. Because I haven't worked them out in so long (2 weeks), they are like very cooked spaghetti! It feels good, but hurts. They will kill when Shane wakes up and I have to pick him up. Someone else woke up early & he kept me company while I worked out. I love having company. It takes away from the pain and makes the time go by that much faster!

I didn't do a video today. I feel like my arm routine is strong and I'm motivated to get ripped arms for summer!

As I'm typing this and playing with Lars and his tiny toys, my arms are quivering. It's going to be difficult to pick up a 15.3 lbs (& 27" long...we just went to the Drs) little boy.

Do you prefer to workout with company or solo?

Burning abs

Another video was in the schedule this morning. I've changed to mainly videos because I feel like I need someone to push me. So far, the videos are working!

Today was an ab day. I love working my abs. I'm starting to get my lines back and am preparing for summer time. I'm not one of those moms that wear a two piece once I have kids (there's nothing wrong with that, it's just not me).

My pale skin will be blinding everyone this summer. I love summer time, but I hate it when it gets too hot. Spring time is my favorite.

Well, my burning abs have to get the boys ready to go to storytime.

What's your favorite time of year? What's your favorite area to work out?

Perfect running view!

Since everyone is healthy in the house, I was finally able to get out of the house (sans kids) and pound some pavement! It just rained a few hours before, so everything was so fresh, green and happy. Can you spot the mallard in the picture?

It was a very slow run (3 weeks off of San kids running will do that to you), but it was the greatest, sweatiest workout I've had in a while. I was craving it!

This morning, this was my workout setup. My iPad had a HIIT video that I really liked. It involved pilates and made me sweat = a very happy Shelly!!

One of the reasons I liked the video is because it had a countdown clock in the corner. So, when the instructor wasn't counting down, you can always see how long you have left. I love knowing that. I'm going to try a new ab video tomorrow 😁

Do you like seeing the countdown?

Working out in my sleep

Another early morning workout for me! Yay! Let's hope I can keep this up!

It was an ab morning, so I decided to do it in the house. Sometimes, I'm just too lazy to walk the extra steps to the garage.

I don't think I completly woke up until after my workout was complete and I stumbled into the kitchen. The only thing about working my abs is that I have to lay down. I can just see it, I hear my boys waking up and I'm asleep on the floor, never working the abs. I have a feeling that will happen sometime. Oh well!

How many times do you workout half asleep? Do you prefer early morning, mid day or an evening sweat session?

Where'd the motivation go?

Ever since I was sick, I'm having a difficult time getting back into my routine of getting up early and working out. I did workout 4 times last week. But, 2 of those days were runs with the boys. I'm not saying my runs were bad, I just wanted the runs to be an addition to my morning routine.

I did manage to get out of bed before the boys this morning. Since I haven't worked my butt or legs lately (besides the runs), I decided it was a leg day.

Since its been a while since that area has been worked, I poured sweat and was left exhausted! So, it was a great morning! I love this feeling. I hope I can remember it when my alarm goes off at 6am tomorrow.

What do you do to boost your motivation?
