My Old Gym Rat Ways

Last night, I felt really good when I got home. This is because I spent about 2 hours at the gym. I loved it! I started with a slow 3 miles, then hit up the leg weights and ended my glorious night with an hour ripped class. I am a little sore this morning. I know, once I wake up more, I will  be even more sore. It's all a good sore, though. I miss this soreness.

(Please excuse the re-used photo)

I knew since I can't get up at 4 am anymore (at least right now, I'm too lazy), I will start going to the gym after work. One thing I didn't miss was the appetite. I was a little hungry before, but I know today I will be starving. I'm going to miss my 4 am gym peeps, but maybe I'll try to get up at that time when the sun starts getting up that early.

Already, I'm happier and I have more energy. I'm, so glad that I went. I'm going to go back tomorrow night (for my spin class), more running and some weights thrown in there. It did take me a little longer to get home from the gym, last night. So, I'm afraid to tell you guys, I'm no longer a run a way from the gym (like I use to incorporate my long runs during the week).

House update:
Still trying to get the heat fixed, but we're lucky we're in Cali because it gets cold, but not that cold here at night (plus we have space heaters). Walls are getting painted and pictures are getting hung. The house is starting to feel like ours and not that we're house sitting for someone. The kitchen is almost at a place where you may be able to see a difference (we can, just because we did the work), so I'll post pictures soon.

Are you a crazy early bird (like I prefer to be, but can't force myself at the moment), or do you prefer an after work sweat-a-thon?

What I Didn't Do

This morning, I didn't wake up at 4 am. I didn't get in my freezing car to drive 15 minutes to the gym. I didn't hop on the tm. I didn't run anything. These are things I had planned this morning. But, when my alarm went off at 4 (yes, I did intend to get up, I even slept in my running clothes, again), I turned it off. I didn't even hit snooze, completely off.

I plan on getting up at a decent time on Saturday to hit the pavement and get some miles in my new neighborhood. I can't wait!

We're hoping to have our heater fixed tomorrow, but we now have space heaters and it's been pretty warm (60's during the day) lately. So, it's not all that cold in our house. We've been drinking and eating a lot of warm things. Tea is our big one. It's nice and relaxing after working all day and needing something warm to relax with.

Is it cold where you are? How do you keep warm (when you're not sweating)?

Working the Lungs

I've been wanting to go to the gym, before work. Which means a 4 am wake up call. I wasn't up for it last week, so this week it was. I haven't ran for quit some time. I knew it was going to be tough. My goal for this week is to get up early today and Thursday to head to the gym just to run. On Saturday, I'll run some errands (in my car), before sun rise, then go for an outdoor run directly after (not even uploading the groceries).

It was really tough, but it was pretty enjoyable. I loved every minute of lung torture. My legs were really happy to get out and run, like the good old days (aka 2 months ago).

You do have to excuse the mess behind me in all these future pictures. We are in progress with the house, and it will be a work in progress for some time. For the people who have asked, the main thing we are doing, right now, is painting.

We are getting some work done in the house, so we don't have heat, right now. So, I slept in my running clothes (clean). So, when I got out of bed, I didn' have to put on freezing cold clothes on. It worked out pretty good and I actually woke up 1 minute before my alarm went off. Everything worked great! I'm going to try this on Thursday and Saturday, too!

How have your 2012 workout goals been going? Any winter races?

All Moved In!!

Well, On Wednesday, Jason & I rushed around trying to get things ready to be signed to close on time, on Friday. It was crazy, but everything worked out. We technically had the keys on Friday night and moved in on Saturday. We finished picking everything last minute small things on Sunday. We are no longer apartment people. We are home owners! Here are just a few pictures from around the house. I didn't include the bedrooms (because everyone has seem a bedroom).

Backyard. We don't have any neighbors behind us, that's a small, quiet park.

I'm taking some time off of work to get un-packed and organized. I will start running and hitting up the gym next week, I just need to try to get organized, before I can start to get back into my routine.

How has everyone been? I haven't caught up on your posts, but I will be back at it next week, as well.

What have I been up to?

I was able to get a short run in on Saturday morning. Silly me, I forgot my gloves, and had to cut my run a little short. My fingers were starting to turn blue. I didn't think that was a good sign. I'm not feeling the 4 am wake up calls. I'm not going to stress about it, I have much more going on right now.

The big moving day is coming near. We are either getting keys sometime early next week or the following. Of course, the sooner the better for us. This is what I've been up to:

 And a little of this:

Some more of this:

And, the cats have been enjoying this entire process, so far. Can you find Izzie (she's a black cat)?

I'm not sure how many more posts I can do this year. It all depends on when we move and when the internet will be turned off. If I can, I'll sneak in some more. So, don't worry about me. I will be back as soon as I can. Follow me on Twitter (on the right side of the blog) and I'll keep you updated there and I will even upload pictures when we are official home owners.

I wish everyone a merry christmas and happy new year (if I'm not back before then). Enjoy yourself and run some miles for me!

2 Consecutive

Well, I did it 2 consecutive days!!! I went back to the gym this morning. I don't want to jinx myself, or anything, but maybe I am back to my old habits??

I am easing back into this entire running thing. Man, my lungs got the worst of my break. It hurts to breath when I run. I really can't wait to be back at my last speed/running shape. It's great to run, though. I will be a runner for life! Nothing can stop me (unless I'm sick).

A lot of people have been sick (in real life and blogging world). Everyone is going out for their runs. See, I'm a big baby when I'm sick. I don't even want to go to work (which I do, because I can't afford to take un-fun time off). I need my rest and then I get back to it. I don't know how you guys do it. You are all tough peeps (yes, I just wrote peeps). I'm glad you guys can go out there and get your run on while being sick!!

I'm not sick (knock on wood), right now, so I'm not faced with this at this moment. Do you workout/run when you're sick? Does it help you feel better or get better faster?

Determination

Well, I'm back at trying to do this gym thing, once again. I am very determined to get up at 4 am Monday thru Thursday and run outside on Saturday morning. I am happy to be back there. I love seeing the regulars and the newbies. It's fun and I enjoy running!

Today, I stopped at 3 miles (my lungs need to get worked out, too) because I started feeling weird. I think I may be coming down with this cold everyone has. I hope not and I'm going to keep thinking healthy.

What have I been doing in my non-gym time? Well, we have been home furnishing window shopping. We're in the final steps of getting the house and we don't want to buy anything yet (especially, since we don't have room for it). So, we're shopping around and seeing what we like for the best price. I am so picky when it comes to rugs. Jason likes very ornate rungs and I like very plain rugs. I think we found one that we both like (it isn't one of these), but we were surrounded by them this weekend.

Everything is very messy here, we've packed so much stuff and so much stuff left to pack. I'm trying to keep the very breakable things for the very last minute, hoping to save them from being broken. We have some much to do still, but we're making it fun along the way.

What are you training for?
