Half Marathon Minus a 5k

Last night, I had the Moussaka for dinner. Surprisingly, it tasted much better than the first night. It had more flavor and taste. It still didn't taste as good as I'd hoped, but better. Maybe it gets better with each day??

I had 10 miles on the schedule to run tonight. Well, I think it was the best run of the training schedule! I felt no pain (not even my rigged toe) and I can't wait until my next run.

I rigged my foot so my blister wouldn't be effected by the run. As I'm typing this, I realized I hadn't taken a picture, yet. I'll post one tomorrow. I out a normal band aid over the blister, then duct tape to make the band aid stay on. When I took it off, I could see a small blister on the toe to the right and the current blister was very slightly effected. This isn't nearly what it wold have been if I didn't do anything. I don't think I could have finished the 10 miles.
I will be icing tonight and hoping (most likely) to be back at the gym tomorrow for a 3 mile run and spin class tomorrow. Let's see how my feet heal.

How did you feel after your first 10 miler?

  1. The ice pack has been my best friend lately.

I would not know the answer to your question because I have not run 10 miles... YET! One day (hopefully soon), I will DO IT!

  5. My first 10 miler was actually a HORRIBLE run and I remember feeling so defeated. The one I did after that was so much better.

  6. I felt like I could conquer the world after my first 10 miler. Granted, I ran it at a much slower pace than I typically run, but I hit a plateau and felt like I could make loops for days!

  9. Congrats on your first double digits! The best advice I can give for runners starting to get into the longer runs - compressions socks are saviors! Wear them right after you run and the day after. Your muscles will recover so much faster!
