Great food and great runs!

Today was another bright and early morning. I was off from work due to the Fourth of July holiday yesterday. It was perfect weather for a little run. Every time I run outdoors, I always bring my trusty Nathan water bottle. I love this water bottle because it has a small pocket for my keys, I.D., cash or any other small items I may need. It also has a nice handle that allows sweat to pass through. This is one of my necessities whenever I run.

I started out my morning with a very ripe 1/2 of a banana. I had the best run I've had in a while. I ran the fastest that I've ran since I was a child. I was able to get my time down to 8:45 for a couple of minutes. I'm not the greatest runner, but I am in training to become one. This was one of my best times. I love that my legs were able to move that fast. I was able to get into "the zone" and really get out of my head. It was a great run this morning that was truly needed.

When I returned from the greatest run, I finished my 1/2 of a banana and continued the refueling process with Gatorade Performance 02. I really like the orange flavor. I think the orange and the lemon lime flavor are my two favorites. It really does quench my thirst after a tough run, like I had this morning.

Once I was fully cooled down, I continued my refueling with a cup of Seattle's Best coffee. This coffee is so smooth. I love that it doesn't leave that bitter taste, or even that film on your teeth, like some brands.

My breakfast was 1 cup of Cheerios Multi Grain cereal with 3/4 cups non fat milk. This cereal really satisfies my sweet tooth. The O's are lightly coated and tastes great! It's perfect because it doesn't have that much sugar and it is good for you. I keeps me full for several hours, until my afternoon snack.

Since today was filled with bad news, I wasn't able to fully eat a lunch or a snack. Instead, I had a nice, filling snack for my lunch. I ended up eating my whole grain bread with Skippy's chunky peanut butter and a bottle of water. This combination completely fulfills my body's needs. Whenever I eat this, I am full for about 4 hours.

For dinner, I used the left over BBQ chicken from dinner the other night and chopped it up. I piled it on top of my whole grain tortilla with some BBQ sauce, greens and the shredded chicken. I folded it up like a burrito. These ingredients tasted so great together!

I am going to finish my night off with a lot more water, and possibly an apple or another banana. I usually do not have a great appetite during the summer time, because of the heat, so I have to remind myself when I should be eating.

  1. That whole grain tortilla looks great! I got to get me one of those. What brans do you think are the best?

  2. Mission Tortillas are filled with flavor and pretty easy to find.
