My Strange Addiction

I was able to run another 5k tonight!! Yay! I'm so excited. I never thought I would be so happy to run a 5k. Progress is coming. I've noticed that my feet to re-callus in order to feel better. This little bit of running at a time is slowly working. I took my insert out of my left show (and kept in my right) and that seemed to help with the blister as well. My feet don't hurt nearly as bad as they did yesterday. I didn't feel lop sided either. I wasn't sure it was going to work, but so far, so good.

When I got home, hubs was killing zombies on the computer, so I decided I was going to watch one of my stupid shows that I like (I have a lot of them). On TLC, they have this show called My Strange Addiction. These people are addicted to the weirdest things. Tonight's episode, this girl liked to eat laundry detergent and didn't realize what it was doing to her body. And, this guy was addicted to competing in strong man competitions. Here's a picture of him carrying a body of a car. Crazy stuff...

While I watched my shows, I iced my leg,

and drank a little beer.

It was a great night!! I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!! Don't forget to fill out my poll off to the right side. I'm very curious to see if I'm alone or not.

Dinner of Champions and a Winner!

The gym went well today. My knee was letting me run, but I could feel a blister that was starting to form on my foot. I can't have another blister because I'm running tomorrow. So, I was able to 2 1/2 miles. I cranked up the reps on the PT today. I'm a wimp, so I was starting at 10, now I'm up to 12. I'll have some awesome legs by the time summer comes!

I was pretty hungry when I got home. Since hubs was cleaning the kitchen and living room, I couldn't make dinner (yes, I'm lucky, he loves to clean). I wasn't really in the mood for the veggies dinner from last night. I was really craving some toast and a greek yogurt. So, that's what we had.

The toast had some butter and cinnamon on top. I love this combination. It's perfect for the cold, rainy night!

My yogurt was my favorite brand, Oikos. It tastes so good and creamy. The fruit is on the bottom, so you have to stir it. It makes it more fun. I topped it with my home made granola bar (crumbled). It was so good. The dried cherries tasted a little funny mixed in with the blueberry yogurt, though.

I just got done icing my knee and now it's time to reveal the winner (I know that's why you guys are reading this post. You probably scrolled down to see the winner). The winner of the Yurbuds (the code) is:
Emily from Sweat Once a Day
Either leave a comment or email me (runnersfuel(at)hotmail(dot)com) your email address to receive your code. Congrats to you! Thank you everyone for entering and thank you to Yurbuds for such an awesome giveaway!

Meet Cody

Meet Cody. This is the new shop cat. He goes home with the owners at night (and on weekends). He is very lovable and sweet. He laid on my lap most of the day. But, of course, he's not cuter than my kitties.

At the gym, I was able to run 2 1/2 miles at one time. I was pretty happy. It wasn't another 5k, but it's better than nothing. I really love running and I really love the fatty foods I let myself eat when I'm running a lot of miles. I also really hate the waiting game. I'm such an impatient person.

After my run, I headed over to the weight area and did my PT. Next on the list was my spin class. As you noticed, I said "list". I do write lists for everything. I have a calender with workouts that I do everyday. I love being organized. It may not look like I'm organized, but I know where everything is.

The spin class was great! There were so many newbees. It's always interesting to see peoples faces when they start the class. The 2 spin classes I take can be difficult (even for a veteran). People chickened out early (as normal) and left in a sweaty mess about 15 minutes into the class. It's great to see!

Dinner was one of my own master pieces. Super healthy! I bought some veggies: 2 different kinds of squash and an eggplant. I cooked them with some teryikai sauce and my cooked chicken. I piled that on top of some cooked brown rice.

It may not look good, but it was mighty tasty! I will announce the winner of my giveaway tomorrow night. Hurry and leave me a comment on that post.

1 Step Back Brings Me 3 Steps Forward

I had the best day today. The owners (at work) got a new shop kitten. I'll try to remember to take a picture of the little cutie. This made the day fun (more than normal). Yes, I do love my job!

The gym was even better! I didn't have much in mind as for running. When I hit the treadmill, my knee started feeling really good. Next thing I know, I have finished my 5k (my knee was starting to hurt some, so I decided to stop). I'm so happy I was finally able to finish it!! Here's what I looked like (a reenactment) when I saw how far I ran.

In case you're new to my blog. Just before turkey day, I injured my knee and haven't been able to run much without pain. This is why I was so excited. I was running 7 miles before this happened. I haven't this far since my last race.
After the run, I did my PT (even thought I don't mention it every time, I do do the PT in the am, too). My knee was starting to feel better, so I hopped back on the treadmill once again. I was able to run 1/2 mile completely pain free.
Every time I start to doubt myself, I make a come back. Every time I start to think I'm healing, I take a step back. I wish my knee will make up it's mind. I hope running more (thinking a little bit 7 days until I don't have much pain) will help. It seems better when I run in consecutive days. Let's see.
I've added a new countdown to the right. It's a count down to my 1/2 marathon. It's on April 30th (wish I will register at the end of the month). I also added another poll. Sorry I've been slacking on it. I'm curious what these results will show. Don't forget to enter my giveaway. Tomorrow is the last day.

Little Changes Brings Big Results

It looks like I will be running on Friday. My knee only allowed me to run 1 1/2 miles. I tried walking about .1 miles, but when I started back, it was still a little painful. I'll see if this helps (hopefully it will). Afterwards, I did my PT while I waited for my spin class to start.

This class was one of my favorites. We had a sing-a-long to "I had the time of my life" from Dirty Dancing. It was so much fun. Our instructor threatened us, if we didn't sing, she would keep playing the song (it was a re-mix). It seems like something she would do. My instructor does still uses a cd (which kept skipping) and the other instructor, uses his ipod. I'm curious, all the spin instructors out there, do you use your ipod, or a cd?

When I got home, I put my bag down and this is what I found when I went to put everything away (only 5 minutes later). Scout really loves my gym bag. I guess she loves the sweaty stinky smell of my gym clothes and my stinky shoes inside.

I weighted myself, I am now officially back to my normal weight (from before the holiday binge). I'm making the life changes, I had once before. My knee is the only reason why I stopped my normal lifestyle of always splurging and not working out. Now, I'm back on track and getting ready for the 1/2 marathon (only 110 days from now, yes, I'm counting) and bikini season. I'm making small changes and getting big results. I love seeing results. It makes everything worth it!

Jam & Granola Bars

Sunday is my other day off of working out right now. I've been keeping up with my PT and icing and everything, it's just time to take of the gym and running.

I got up at a decent time (8:30am) and went to the fridge . I wanted to have some toast with jam(or jelly, I'm not sure the difference) for breakfast. I noticed that we were extremely low (only enough for the 1 piece of toast), so I needed to make more. This time, we're having blackberry and cherry jam. I tasted it and it tastes so good. Here's what I made today.

I've been wanting to make some more home made granola bars. I kind of made my own recipe. I looked up a lot online and kind of combined them. I don't have exact measurements. This is what's inside them:

rolled oats, almonds, flax seed, pine nuts, barley, dried cherries, mini chocolate chips, maple syrup, honey, PB, canola oil and just little pinch of salt. I baked them at 350 for 25 minutes (just a few minutes too long). They are very crispy. They taste ok, I'm not impressed. I'll keep working on the recipe.

I made 1 container and put them in the fridge and the other container is in the freezer.
I can't wait to go for a run tomorrow. I'm not expecting to be able to run far, just excited to stretch my legs out a bit. Another busy day ahead of me, but I'm ready for it! Don't forget about my giveaway. You have until Wednesday.

Run, PT, Run

This morning was another bright and early morning. It actually wasn't bright outside (of course), it was pitch black outside. It was so cold (I know, I know, it's actually warm here) outside, too. I left my nice, warm bed with cuddly kittens and headed for the gym. I really, really wanted to run a 5k on the TM today. My knee wasn't going to have any part of it. I don't know if it was because I took yesterday off and I really do need to run everyday (I did do me PT, though). I think I may test this out this coming week.

I was able to run a full 2 miles. I took a 1/2 hour and did my PT, then decided that my knee was feeling a little better. I was thinking that maybe I could possibly run the rest (1.1 miles left). Nope only 1/2 mile was what my knee had left. It was done. That was fine, I had a ton of errands to run. I went to Target, the veterinary (just to pick up food), Petsmart, grocery store and the dry cleaners. I was so tired (2 hours after my workout was finished). I came home and ate a second small breakfast and relaxed with some coffee.

I only had a couple more things to do before I could fully relax for the rest of the day. I needed to prep the chicken, so I could throw it in the crock pot and we could eat some of it tonight. The spices I used this time were: basil, thyme, bay leaves, dill weed, poultry seasoning and salt and pepper. It smelled up the house all day. I was hungry all day long. I think I did pretty good with my snacks considering the house smelled like chicken all day.

The rest of the day was spent by the fire,

watching the kitties play,

and making dinner (just the last 1/2 hour). I made something I created myself. I'm not sure what I'll call it, but it was made of small shelled whole wheat pasta (cooked), chopped zucchini, pesto sauce, parm. cheese and italian bread crumbs all mixed together. I then poured it in a 8x8 glass pan and poured just a little more cheese on top and am currently baking it at 350 for 15-20 minutes. It smells so good, and I even have my veggies inside!

The buzzer is about to ding. I hope that everyone that is participating in the Disney marathon is having a great time!! Congrats to all of you!!

How many marathons have you participated in?
