The Bad Week is Almost Over?

So, everyday, I ice, elevate and pop anti inflammatory pills like a bad habit (in a safe way). I'm really hoping that my heel feels better by Monday. I still have a very slight pain, but not too bad. I don't feel the pain until I get off my feet. While I'm walking around and stuff, I feel fine.

This is how I've been keeping my mind off of it. I've been researching new workout plans. I need to broaden my horizons in the weight room and on the mat. These books really help, especially the Gym Bible. The Gym Bible explains what machines work what and what weights to lift and how while you're at the gym. Just what I need. Jason got these books for me a few years ago when I started really hitting the gym. One of the best presents ever!

So, I can't run (without pain, so I don't) and it seems like everything is going wrong at work. That is basically my entire day. So, this week has really blown. I can't wait to be over this week. I hope next week is better than this. Jason just called me last night (he was on his way home from work and I was in the shower). He left a message that he was in his second car accident this week (neither were his fault). He said the car that rear ended him totaled his car. Because Jason's phone is dead, I couldn't get a hold of him and I just had to wait. When he got home, I went outside. Barely any damage to his truck but the girls car was totaled. He has some back pain, neck pain pain and some shoulder pain (where the seat belt was). He has a dr. appointment for this morning.

Last night for dinner, I made some yummy cool pasta. It was a Greek Pasta Salad. The feta cheese on top made the dish! Just the perfect summer pasta salad.

Well, I hope every one's week has been going than mine! Here's to the weekend!

What are your plans this weekend? Any races or camping trips or long runs?

Trying to Relax

I have been relaxing and staying off my foot as much as possible. But, of course, because I can't run, that's all I want to do.

The way things are going, I may be able to continue with running on Monday. I've been icing and elevating and taking anti inflammatory meds like my life depends on it. The mornings use to be the worst, but they aren't so bad anymore. At work, when I would sit at my desk for several hours without getting up, and try to walk around, it would hurt so badly and I had no problems to day.

This weekend is full of excitement and it all starts tomorrow, so I better get relaxing before work.

I've read that a lot of people are having the same problem (or similar) as mine. How has everyone been doing with their healing?

Enjoying My Time

Since I'm taking some time off to heal my foot (which is doing so much better), I am trying to enjoy my time that have now have "extra". When I got home last night, I started to prep dinner. I made hamburgers (yes, finally with real cow) and had left over salad from the Russian dinner.

I'm getting use to the salad now. It's not too bad. I just relaxed (while icing and elevating my foot) all night. Wow, did it feel good! It's weird, because last night, even if I could, I wouldn't have worked out. It was a rest night. But this morning, was a mandatory rest morning. It felt so good to sleep in (until 6).

I'm doing all I can to rest up (staying off my feet as much as possible included) because I want to be back to the normal routine by Monday. I have 10 1/2 miles on schedule (trading my long run day to hang out with a friend on Saturday).

When you take mandatory rest days (or mornings), how do you relax?

What Did I Do?

Thank you guys so much!! I really appreciate all of your advice on the blog, facebook and twitter. I learned so much from your advice. I did more research and I will be doing this for a while.

Last night, I iced every few hours, took some nsaids and elevated. I tried to stay off my feet as much as possible. It already is starting to feel better. This morning, I did get up early to head to the gym. I got there and automatically went to the tm to get in my tempo run. I started and didn't like what I felt (just like yesterday and Sunday). I stopped right away and spent the entire time on weights. I never feel like I did as much, if I don't run. I could do the stairs (not right now, though) and still feel like I didn't do as much. I know, my brain is crazy. I just love running so much!

My plan: To rest the rest of the week and hopefully be back to the gym (and running) on Monday. I have 10 1/2 miles planned and I hope those can be completed, but I won't push myself.

Have you ever had this happen to you?

Pain in My Heel

So, here are the books that I ended up buying. Right now, I'm in the middle of another book (non-running) and I want to finish that before I dive into these books. I can't wait!

Yesterday, I did end up going for a swim. I kept it very casual and only swam 1200 meters. It felt good to go out there, get some sun and stretch my arms, legs and muscles. I'm glad I did it!

This morning, I got up (a very difficult thing to do this morning) at 4 to head to the gym. I noticed yesterday, a pain in my heel and was limping most of the day. I've had a slight pain for a little while, but it wasn't a big deal. When I was on the tm this morning, the pain started to come back. My stride was normal (no limping or anything), but I decided it was best for my heel to only run 4 miles and only 11 minutes on the stairs (I had 6 miles on 20 minutes planned today).

I did some research and I may need some additional cushion in the shoe, ice it and take some nsaids. That's what I'll do and see if it helps. I notice the pain mostly after I had been not moving very much (which I barely moved yesterday) and after it stretched out, it got better.

Has anyone had anything like this on their heel? Any suggestions (before a dr. appointment)?
