Disco Donut 5K & a Winner

Don't those words put together sound like the perfect 5k? Music along the course, a donut hole eating station at mile 2 and an all around great time!! Sounds like the perfect 5k fun run to me! I can't wait to party along with my friends and have a great time! They "put the flavor in fitness". They have runs all over the place. You're bound to find one near you.

Join me to day and like them on facebook and sign up for the race. Sounds like a groovy time!

This week, one of my many, many workouts was: warm up: 5 minute jump rope. For each, last one minute: plank, wall sits and then see how many you can do of each: squats and burpees. Here are my results: (squats) 33, 36 and 39. (burpees) 13, 14, and 17. Not too shabby, getting better as the workout went on. Hopefully it gets better each time I try this. Tomorrow I have a timed 2 mile run on the schedule. Let's see how I do.

Hello from my little family

Time for the winner. It may be no surprise, but Seth is the winner. Please email me at runnersfuel(at)hotmail(dot)com. I'll email you the code.

Doesn't the Disco Donut 5k sound great?
Have you ever done a run that involved food?
How's your training going?

Getting Better & Giveaway WINNER!!

I got up this morning and ran some errands. When I got home, I made some coffee and had some whole wheat toast topped with PB and sliced bananas. So yummy. This was the first time I ever had this. I've heard of a lot of people having this all the time. So, I took their advice and tried it. Love it!!

I caught up on some shows, then headed out to get my hair done. I haven't had it cut or anything since February. Which is way too long. I love the color and how she styles it! I'm too lazy, so this is the only time it ever gets styled.

For dinner, I made braised chicken thighs with button mushrooms. The dinner took a while to make (as expected), but totally worth it! The chicken was nice a juicy and full of flavor. This recipe is being added to my favorites stack.

My knee is so much better. The pain I've have in the past has lasted about 2 days. That is how long this lasted. I took today off of working out (I was going to run), and I just RICE my knee. I think it worked. I'm going to go for a run in the morning and will let you know tomorrow.
And now, on to the reason why you guys are reading this post...in WINNER of the Pro Emu muscle and Joint cream jar is: Teamarcia. Please email me (runnersfuel(at)hotmail(dot)com with your mailing address and I will have a jar sent directly to you. Congrats and thank you everyone for following and reading through over 100 posts!! I wouldn't continue this without you!!

French Dinner & a Winner

This weekend was full of baking a new dinners. Since no one really reads posts on Saturdays, I will include the recipes and all details tomorrow. Today, I will talk about the worst run yet.

When I woke up this morning, I had a feeling, in the back of my head that today was going to be a bad run. I woke up and ate 1/4 of a power bar. I drank some water and got dressed. I drove to a new trail that I have only taken my dog on once a few years ago. So, I wasn't very familiar with this trail. I turned right too early and didn't go the way I was familiar with.

On the run, I wore my Spi Belt. I had my cell phone, a GU (just in case) and a Jamba Juice card in there. About 1 mile into my run, the belt started to giggle up and down. It was very annoying. I thought I didn't have it tight enough, so I tried tightening it, then I tried re-organizing the items inside (thinking, maybe it wasn't flat against my back), and I also tried changing it from the back to the front. Since it was more annoying on the back, I kept it on the front. Because of this, I kept hitting my bladder from the rest of the run (about 5 miles). I stopped my Garmin when I tried fixing my belt, then I forgot to start it. I ran about 1 mile with my Garmin stopped. So, I lost about 10 minutes.

Because I took a wrong turn, I wasn't familiar with how long the trail went. I found out that it ended very soon. It only went about 1 1/2 more miles. I ended running on surface streets. They were streets I've never heard of (and I live about 3 miles away). I finished my half way (out and back kind of run) and I turned around about 3 miles into the run. I almost ran into dog poop a million times and I was holding my Spi Belt. To make matters worst, about 4 1/2 miles into the run, my feet started to kill me, yet again. I ended up walking some and running very slow. The surface streets had very steep hills (which I'm not training for at this point).

The only good thing about having such a horrible run today, is that it will just better that much better tomorrow. I think I will run in a more familiar area. I like knowing where I am and what I am about to come across. I will go back to this trail (and make the correct turn), just not tomorrow. I can't wait to get up early and try this out, again.

Here is a little preview of what I've made, so far, this weekend. I'm thinking that truffles may be in the future for tomorrow.???

More Peanutella balls (a double batch).

Cinnamon Bread.
Chicken Crepes and fresh green beans.

Another Day & Winners

Today was pretty uneventful. Normal food all the way around.

I went to the gym and had another great workout. I love it when I'm not looking forward to a workout, I force myself to go anyways, and end up loving it. I had 25 minutes on the elliptical, 30 minute abs, 10 minutes rowing, and 10 minutes on that other machine. Then, I was off to the grocery store.

I buy more of my stuff at Winco (it's just so dang cheap), and I buy special foods at Whole Foods. Whenever I walk into Winco, I start to feel a headache coming on and try to rush as fast as I can to hurry up and get out of there. I was still irritated by the time I got to Whole Foods, but I became relaxed so fast. People were nicer and it's a much better environment. I wish I could afford to buy everything there.

After I got home and unloaded everything, I started dinner. I wasn't that hungry, so I just had mashed potatoes and green beans (my favorite). If I could, I would eat this everyday (and I would be 100 pounds heavier).

I used Earth Balance for the butter in the potatoes. My first reaction was that it was so crumbly. It didn't scoop out like I'm use to with other brands. I'm very happy to report, it tasted just like the other stuff. It didn't taste "too healthy" (if you know what that means). It's some pretty good stuff! I can't wait to use it for my baking feast Friday!

My dessert was Seeds of Change chocolate with whole oats inside. It tasted just like some chocolate from when I was a kid. It brought back so many memories.

Look at all those oats. Such GREAT chocolate (and I've been to Belgium and had their chocolate)!!

Ok, enough torture, on to the winners. The 3 lucky winners of the Inperspire towels are:
Kovas Palubinskas
Andrew Opala
Marlene
You have 48 hours to email me (runnersfuel[at]hotmail[dot]com) your address and which towel you would like (if you do not claim your prize, I will go back to randow.org and see the other winner(s) are).
