Race Day

I'm starting to get ready for Spartan Race day. On race day, my wave doesn't start until 11:15 and I have to be there 1 1/2 hours prior. So, I have some time the morning of. But, I like to be prepared. I need to set everything out and put it by the door.

The only thing is that I don't know what to wear. I normally know what to wear to a race. But, this isn't a normal race, at least for me. I'm going to be drenched in mud, going under barb wire and so much more. I don't want to mess up any of my good race clothes. So, I just don't know what to wear.

Do I go with capris? They could drag me down and be too heavy with mud and possibly get snagged going over a wall.

Or, do I go with shorts? I don't want mud in personal areas, or get more scrapes and bruises than I normally would. Don't get me wrong, I know I'm going to have scrapes, bruises, and possibly even blood.

Please help me and give me our opinion of what you'd wear for a race like this...

2 days until the Spartan Race!!!!!!

What to Wear for Cold Weather Running

Hope everyone has a great Christmas!

Usually (depending on where you live) Christmas time means that it's cold outside. I mean really cold. I live in Cali, so it's not nearly as cold here as it is in North Dakota. I still need to dress warm, in order to prevent myself from freezing. Here's what I'm wearing right now, when I run outside (on the weekends and all this week). I'm still wearing my Nike capris (my legs get really hot), but I know that will change very soon. I wear my long sleeve tech shirt, then a short sleeve tech shirt and arm warmers on top of all that. I also have winter socks and my comfy new(ish) shoes. While running (when it's super cold), I also wear my running jacket (it gets washed a lot more often during the winter time than the summer). Every time I run, I bring my water bottle, my head band (it's a must to keep my hair out of my face) and my mp3 player (only if I'm running solo).

How cold has it been where you live? It's been in the 30's when I wake up and a warm 50 during the day. What do you wear during your winter runs?

Rainbow Bright Vomit

It was a relaxing night at the gym last night. I used the weights section to work my legs. I usually use the stairs, but I realized that I hadn't used the weights in way too long, so I really needed to. I don't want an injury, and I've learned the hard way, that cross training is a necessity for my half marathon training.

While I was lifting weights, I realized that everyone was in matching clothes (no that they matched each other, just that their "outfit" matched). I think I may have been the only one that wasn't matching. I looked like rainbow bright had thrown up all over me. I had on blue (3 shades) pants, pink tank, red/white jacket and purple shoes. The thing is, I don't care. I'm not one of those girls that needs to match all the time. I've been tired in the mornings, so I haven't cared what I threw in my gym bad for that night's workout.

I don't think it matters what you wear, as long as you're trying. Except, there was a guy in my yoga class that was wearing skin tight jean (definitely jeans), a chain to hold his wallet (I guess while he's in downward dog) and a button up collard shirt. I guess he wasn't expecting to come to the gym last night. Whenever we would come in to a balancing pose, he would hop all over the room. It was pretty annoying. If you lose your balance (which happens all the time), come out of the pose and try again, slowly.

Do you match when you workout? What's your favorite yoga pose? how often do you cross train?

Decanting & Jack Rabbits

Since we went to the farmers market yesterday, we decided to pick up some "extra" fruit so we can start our decanting process that one of our friends brought our attention to last year. First thing is first, sterilizing the jars.

While they were sterilizing, we got the fruit and anything that was going in the jars ready for packing.

It didn't take very long and everything is ready to be stored for about 6 months. We have 4 jars, which include raspberries, peaches and strawberries mixed with sugar, gin or brandy. Yum!!

Lunch time was coming after we got done, so I fixed us a huge fruit salad to share. in the mix was raspberries, strawberries, bananas, peaches, honeydew and grapes.

On the way home from the farmers market, we needed to stop off at Target to get the mason jars and while we were there, I just happen to see a couple pairs of running shorts that just happen to be my size. I love them and they're super comfy.

Here's the other pair.

This morning, I met my friend at the gym and my new normal workout schedule. I ran a quick 5k. It was my fastest one yet...28:34!! I'm getting so fast, I'm like a little jack rabbit trying to get away from a predator. I also lifted weights with arms and legs, as well as doing a core mat workout. I was there for about 1 1/2 hours (as usual). I can't wait to go back tonight for my ripped class.

What class do you look most forward to at the gym?
